I've been writing and world-building for as long as I can remember. My first full-length novel was a terrible attempt at science fiction, but hey- that was high school, so it was supposed to be terrible. As an adult, I've published a couple crime-noir novels and while that was fun and gained me a lot of interest, it just didn't feel right. It took me some time to figure out why I wasn't satisfied with that particular universe. I soon realized I was tired. Tired of the violence, sex, and general awfulness that is seen, not only rampant in all forms of entertainment, but in the real world as a whole. I didn't want to add to that anymore. I decided I wanted to write clean, wholesome, fun, and complex stories for both a younger crowd and adults. So I'd finally taken my first step down a different creative path. In time, I had a name for my protagonist: Elbie Gimble. He's you're classic, "everyday" 10-year-old boy wonder with personality and smarts. But I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with him. A small town detective who uncovered the relatively innocent misdeeds of the simple townsfolk? This took me longer to figure out. It wasn't until I was at my daughter's house who had a musician-friend over. We were recording his original song for YouTube, and one of the lines in the lyrics caught my attention: "The Train to the Moon."

The whole journey started with a song.
The whole journey started with a song.

Hmm, I thought. I like that. The train to the moon. After giving it some thought, I decided I was going to ask the musician-friend if I could use that idea from his song for my novels. Well, it turned out that line wasn't in the song at all; I had been mishearing the lyrics all night long! Great! After a little brainstorming, Elbie's world quickly - and I mean quickly - began falling into place. I soon had an amazingly deep universe with complex characters and issues in a setting that I couldn't wait to explore. The best part was, it still lent itself to younger audiences while still maintaining some complexity for older readers. To top things off, I was able to introduce an educational element, as well.

I finished the first novel in the series in a little shy of three months. It currently sits on my hard drive, waiting to be revised and edited and shopped to an agent. In the meantime, I wanted to expand my universe and characters a little more, and even write a few short stories that preceded the first novel for a little backstory. Those short adventures are what you'll find on this site. I'll admit I'm a little nervous to get back to work on the main novel, but producing everything I have so far has been such fun, and there's SO much more to come. For now, though, I hope you'll jump into Elbie's Gimble's world with me and explore the many wonders of our planet and our universe. Start with the short adventures if you wish, or wait for the main event, The Last Train to the Moon, Elbie Gimble's FIRST Cosmic Adventure, COMING SOON!
